Galaxy s4 smart scroll missing5/15/2023 ![]() ![]() In other respects, the Mega feels much like a big brother to the Galaxy S4. The upside is that the devices are set so that the type size is about the same, meaning on the bigger display you can see lots more data on the Mega, and to me that is a big deal. (There are options to increase font size and "increase legibility" but I didn't find that worked particularly well.) You can see more messages in email, more text on a webpage, and more items or description on Google Play. In short, you'll see more and need to scroll less, and I do like that. At 1,280-by-720, it actually has less resolution than the smaller Galaxy S4, which has a 5-inch, 1,920-by-1,080 Super AMOLED display.Īs a result, the text isn't quite as crisp and you can definitely see the difference. Still I found the Mega's Super AMOLED screen to be quite readable, and 233 pixels-per-inch isn't bad, though the S4's display had somewhat better color fidelity and of course, higher resolution. But I think most people will be quite satisfied with the default text on the Mega. The first thing you notice with the phone is the huge display. It's not a particularly high-resolution display. version of the S4, but in practice I can't say I noticed much real difference any delays seemed more due to connectivity and the time needed to connect to a website, not rendering issues. In general, Android and the bulk of apps I ran all seemed pretty snappy. You can tell the difference with high-end games, though some things just take too long to render. The Mega doesn't have quite the specifications of the Galaxy S4 (which I continue to like) or of the forthcoming 5.7-inch Note 3, but it's no slouch. The version I used has a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which isn't quite as powerful as the 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 used in the U.S. There are big phones, and then there are BIG phones. I've spend the last week traveling with the 6.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega, and while it's bigger than I would normally carry, I've found it to be a compelling choice.
